Spellcasting

Intelligence, Trained Only, Requires Specialisation

You know how to draw upon the flow of arcane force that is in and between everything in the universe. Each magic user needs to select a speciality, a school to focus on. The fact that a mage has a specialization doesn’t mean that he cannot cast spells of belonging to other schools, but it will be a greater effort for him since each school thinks magic differently.

All the eight schools of magic forms “the wheel of magic” (see fig. below), a mage specializing in one school is able to cast spells from the other schools, but his casting ability is reduced when working with magic from the other schools. His own school is called the primary school, the schools adjunct to his own on the wheel is called his secondary schools and the schools that are one step away from the secondary schools are called the tertiary schools. The school opposite to his is own is called his diametric school and the schools adjunct to the diametric school are known as the opposed schools. There’s also a ninth form of magic, grey magic. Grey magic is a neutral magic, it is a combined flow of arcane energy, but only the most skilful mages can master grey magic.
