Create Magic Potion

Create Magic Potion is available in a spirit magic and a sorcery version. This spell cannot be used to store divine magic spell.

Spell Description

Create Magic Potion enables a mage to store a spell in any edible object. Examples of such objects are potions, beverages, pills, cookies, pastries and breads of all kinds. This spell gives the mage more control (as compared to creating a potion using alchemy) over the conditions for how the potion can be used and by who it can be used.

The spell which is to be stored must be cast into the potion as a part of the Create Magic Potion ritual, if the spell is cast a second time, the energy needed to fuel the spell is also stored in the potion. If the mage opts out of this last part the energey needed to fuel the spell is taken from the user of the potion, and that regardless of wheter he currently has the MP nedded to fuel the spell or not… The spell can be cast into the potion by someone else than the mage who is performing the ritual. A sorcery spell can be manipulated so that range and duration, etc. is increased as per normal sorcery spells. These manipulations must be recorded by the player when the potion is created. The mage must sacrifice one point of permanent POW to store the magic in the potion, more POW can be used to set conditions if desired.

Spririt magic potions work like spirit magic spells in general, they have the users MP x 5% chance of working. Sorcery potions use the skill level of the caster; the chance of the spell going of is equal to the lowest skill level among all skills involved. The magic in the potion is invoked by drinking or eating the storage object, all of the object must be digested. The spell takes effect when the object is swallowed. If the spell stored in the potion fails and the spell was unfueled the potion still draws one MP from the caster.

If the host object is destroyed, e.g. by being spilled out and washed away, the spell stored is lost. The spell does not protect the storage object from being spoiled, but a rotten potion is still able to hold its magic, although the user might very well become sick if he drinks a spoiled potion.

Many potions are provided with the energy needed to fuel the spell, but some are not, thus it might be very dangerous to digest an ancient potion which has been detected as magical, not only because the potion is almost certainly spoiled, poisionous even, but also because if the spell needs more MP than the reader has availabe the reader collapses and falls unconscious.
